Everything I Learned About Entrepreneurship, I Learned from the Quran
Lesson #24: Scarcity
Al Salam Alaikum 🌱
Welcome to our weekly newsletter on entrepreneurial lessons inspired by the Noble Quran. Last week we discussed abundance, and today we’ll explore the topic of scarcity.
At the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey, I often found myself trapped in a scarcity mindset. I was afraid to take risks and hesitant to invest, believing that resources were limited and failure would lead to poverty. However, the Quran taught me a valuable lesson about this mindset.
Allah (SWT) says in Surah Al Baqarah:
This verse reminds us that it is Shaytan (the devil) who promises us poverty, while Allah promises us forgiveness and bounty. As faith-first entrepreneurs, we must always remember that our provision comes from Allah (SWT), and He is All-Encompassing and All-Knowing.
đź’ˇ Lessons for Daily Business
Trust in Allah: When facing challenges in your business, you should trust that Allah will open doors of provision for you.
Spending in Allah’s Cause: You shouldn’t fear spending on your employees, or in developing your business, as blessings come with wise spending.
Positive Planning: You should plan your business with an abundance mindset, relying on Allah and believing in growth possibilities.
Helping Others: You should seek to create job opportunities and help others, as this brings blessings in provision.
For this week’s reflection exercise, find a quiet place and close your eyes. Take deep breaths and focus on Allah’s blessings upon you.
Reflect on situations where you felt scarcity and consider how they affected your decisions. Then, visualize yourself making decisions with an abundance mindset, trusting in Allah.
Conclude the exercise by expressing gratitude to Allah for His blessings and bounty.
