Everything I Learned About Entrepreneurship, I Learned from the Quran

Lesson 8: Spiritual Leverage

Al Salam Alaikum šŸŒ±

Welcome back to this weekā€™s edition of our mini-series, where we explore entrepreneurial wisdom extracted from the Noble Quran.

Today, we dive into a powerful concept: Spiritual Leverage.

I have personally embraced this concept in my entrepreneurial journey, and I would love to share it with you.

As faith-first entrepreneurs, weā€™re accustomed to leveraging technology, capital, and human resources. However, the Quran introduces us to another form of leverage- spiritual leverage, which comes in dua (supplication) and barakah (divine blessings).

Secular entrepreneurs often view leverage strictly in a material sense, focusing on optimizing resources such as capital, technology, and human talent to maximize their growth and profitability.

While this mindset is effective in achieving worldly success, it tends to overlook the spiritual dimensions of entrepreneurship.

On the other hand, faith-first entrepreneurs recognize spiritual leverage as a competitive advantage.

My definition of ā€˜Spiritual Leverageā€™ is: The amplification of effort through faith.

These entrepreneurs understand that integrating practices like dua (supplication) and seeking barakah (divine blessings) into their business strategy can yield profound results.

This spiritual leverage aligns their business pursuits with their faith and introduces a sense of peace and purpose often missing in secular business practices.

As a result, faith-first entrepreneurs can navigate their entrepreneurial journey with a unique sense of clarity, resilience, and fulfillment that sets them apart.

In my journey, I have found dua to be an invaluable tool. Before embarking on new projects or making important business decisions, I trust Allah (SWT) through dua, seeking His guidance.

This practice has helped me make decisions aligned with my spiritual goals and provided me with a sense of peace and clarity, knowing that I am guided by a power greater than myself.

Barakah, on the other hand, has been a divine multiplier in my entrepreneurial journey.

I have seen my small efforts bear fruit beyond my expectations, reinforcing my belief in the unseen and reminding me that success is not merely a result of our efforts but also the blessings that Allah (SWT) bestows upon us.

Hereā€™s a five-step approach to building spiritual leverage in your own business:

1) Embrace Daily Spiritual Practices: Block out prayer timings, contemplation, and Quran recitation. This spiritual grounding can remind you of your higher, divine purpose.

2) Incorporate Dua in Decision-Making: Seek Allahā€™s guidance through dua before making important business decisions.

3) Cultivate Gratitude: Regularly express gratitude for your blessings to invite more barakah into your business and personal life.

4) Adopt Ethical Business Practices: Ensure your business practices align with Islamic principles and ethical values.

5) Seek Spiritual Mentorship: A mentor or spiritual guide (or Murabi) can provide clarity and help integrate your faith into your business practices.

For the next week, spend give minutes journaling about how you can better integrate spiritual leverage into your business practices. Consider how you can incorporate the five steps suggested above into your daily routine and reflect on how these changes impact your work, mindset, and overall sense of fulfillment.

šŸ¤² Closing Dua

ā€œO Allah, bless my business and the transactions I conduct. Grant me barakah in my endeavors and guide me to act in accordance with Your pleasure.ā€
Ameen
