Leverage Like a Prophet: What Has Allah Given You (And How Will You Use It)?

Lesson 29: Leverage

Al Salam Alaikum 🌱

Welcome to another edition of our series, “Everything I Learned About Entrepreneurship, I Learned from the Quran.”

This week, we’re exploring a powerful concept in both business and faith: leverage. In the business world, leverage often means using tools, capital, or people to amplify results.

But from a faith-based perspective, leverage is not just about maximizing output- it’s about amplifying impact through trust, intention, and alignment with divine purpose.

We’re now at lesson #29 out of 40- alhamdulilah, and what a beautiful point of reflection this is.

📈 What is Leverage? (And Why It Matters Spiritually)

In a conventional setting, leverage is about getting more with less- more growth, more reach, more productivity using existing resources.

But in the Quranic worldview, leverage is deeply spiritual. It’s about identifying the means Allah (SWT) has already given us- skills, networks, time, knowledge- and using them in whats that multiply goodness in both this life and the next.

Leverage in our faith is more than just barakah- where Allah (SWT) attaches divine goodness to something- where small efforts lead to big results, not through brute force, but through alignment with tawakkul (trust in Allah), niyyah (intention), and ikhlas (sincerity).

👊 Prophetic Models of Leverage

Before we divine into examples, it’s worth pausing to remember: the Prophets were not only spiritually elevated but also incredibly strategic. They recognized what Allah (SWT) has already put in their hands- and used it.

So when it comes to leverage, we don’t need to look far. The lives of the Prophets are full of examples that teach us how to recognize what we’ve been given and deploy it with faith and purpose.

Let’s turn to them and learn how to leverage like they did.

🌱 Prophet Musa (AS): When tasked with facing Pharaoh, Musa (AS) asked Allah (SWT) for leverage- not in the form of armies, but by requesting the help of his brother Harun (AS). His dua in Surah Ta-ha:

This shows that leveraging trusted relationships- especially those who share your faith and values- can strengthen your mission.

🌱 Prophet Yusuf (AS): After enduring years of hardship, Yusuf (AS) was placed in a position of political power. He didn’t hoard that authority, he used it to create economic reform, manage resources wisely, and prevent societal collapse:

Yusuf (AS) leveraged knowledge, character, and position to benefit the people and uphold justice.

🌱 Prophets Dawood (AS) and Sulaiman (AS): Allah (SWT) granted Dawood (AS) the ability to mold iron, and Sulaiman (AS) was given control over the winds, jinn, and resources. In Surah Saba, Allah (SWT) says:

They didn’t just use these blessings for personal comfort- they build civilizations, created security, and upheld justice. They leveraged divine gifts- technology, resources, nature, and human skill- for the greater good.

🌱 Prophet Muhammad (SAW): The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) was the ultimate example of spiritual leverage. He empowered others, delegated responsibility, and built a community where everyone had a role. He leveraged people’s strengths to spread the final message globally.

Prophetic Models of Leverage

🧱 Leverage in Your Life: What Has Allah Already Given You?

We often pray for more time, more money, more opportunities. But what if the starting point is to look at what we already have, and ask: How can I amplify this for good?

Leverage can look like:

⏱️ Time: One hour of deep, intentional work can outperform ten hours of distracted hustle and business.

⚒️ Skills: Your design, writing, teaching, or tech ability can benefit others and generate halal income.

🫂 People: Surround yourself with those righteous suhba who remind you of Allah, who sharpen you, and who share your vision.

📲 Platforms: If you have an audience, use it to amplify voices of khayr and goodness.

💰️ Wealth: Even small amounts can be leveraged in sadaqah, investing in people and businesses, or building waqf.

Leverage isn’t always loud. It’s often subtle, strategic, and sincere.

🔑 Key Takeaways

🔑 Leverage with Intention: Identify what Allah (SWT) has already given you, and use it in service of something bigger than yourself.

🔑 Leverage with People: Like Musa (AS), seek support from those who align with your mission. Like the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), build others up.

🔑 Leverage with Integrity: Like Yusuf (AS), use influence ethically. Position, knowledge, and skills are trusts- not trophies.

🔑 Trust in Divine Barakah: Don’t underestimate the impact of small, sincere acts. True leverage includes barakah that multiplies beyond what we can plan.

It’s time to take stock. Knowing what you know now about leverage through a Quranic lens- what has Allah already given you, and how will you use it?

Take 15 minutes this week to reflect:

🔍️ Audit (5 mins): What tools, skills, or relationships has Allah already blessed you with?

🎯 Align (5 mins): Are you using these in a way that pleases Him?

💨 Act (5 mins): Choose one way to use your leverage more intentionally this week- no matter how small.

💌 I’d Love to Hear From You!

If this reflection sparked something in you, I’d love to hear it. You can reply directly to this email- I read and respond to every message. Share your thoughts or tell me how you’re planning to start using leverage in your own life! 🌱

🤲 Closing Dua

“Ya Allah, show us the value of what You’ve already given us. Help us to use our health, time, wealth, knowledge, and relationships in ways that bring benefit to others and draw us closer to You. Put barakah in our efforts and make us among those whose leverage multiplies goodness in both worlds.”
